More about this classic...
Sourced, fully restored and modernised by leading E-type specialists, E-Type UK, this Series 3 V12 E-type began its life as a US grand tourer before being restored to a high-performing upgraded specification in Opalescent Gunmetal over Oxblood Red. Now presenting an exciting performance-built grand tourer, with modernised reliability upgrades and a uniquely finished interior – a dream car for investment, collection or as a touring classic.
Originally delivered to British Leyland, New York in the Summer of 1971, the E-type was finished in the colour of time, Pale Primrose Yellow over Black trim. Believed to have been one of the first 50 roadsters built in LHD, delivered new from the factory. While the earliest years of the E-type haven’t been recorded, the Series 3 V12 recorded ownership in Puerto Rico in 2009 to a Del Valle Cruz of San Juan.
In 2015 the E-type arrived on UK soil, remaining mostly unrestored and still finished in a heritage-correct colour combination. Offered for sale and sold a year later, arriving to E-Type UK’s Kent countryside facility to begin an ultimate restoration changing this V12 Roadster’s offering for good.
The E-type was stripped and taken back to bare metal to kick off the restoration process. Once simply a bare shell the E-type chassis revealed previous shabby repairs and extensive corrosion throughout. With a clear vision of what they wanted from the restoration, the owner strived to retain as much original metalwork as possible. Therefore, where panels could be saved and fabricated the E-Type UK metalwork team used their specialist skill set to do so. However, where unsalvageable and to ensure the Roadster would be safe and strong for years to come, the shell was treated with new panels that included:
- Front and boot floors
- Kickboards
- Outer sills and sill ends
- Engine frames
With the E-type in such a bare state, it was decided to also update the E-type’s appearance with a less dated colour scheme. Following hours of paint preparation restoring those iconic bodylines and gaps, the E-type V12 was finished in a jaw-dropping Opalescent Gunmetal, later paired with a beautifully finished Oxblood Red interior.
As the E-type was rebuilt, each vital component was overhauled by the E-type specialist, once again taking advantage of the situation to update several mechanicals to more modern and reliable upgrades, these included:
- 5-speed gearbox
- Electronic fuel injection
- 12-branch stainless steel exhaust system
- Aluminium radiator and header tank with modern electronic cooling fans
- Bespoke larger wheels
- Bluetooth and handsfree Retrosound radio unit
Complete and delivered to the owner in Summer 2018, with a detailed photographic restoration file, the owner treasured his recently prepared classic, using it in only optimal conditions and dry storing the E-type to preserve its restored finish. Following a year of ownership, the E-type returned to E-Type UK to be fitted with a body-coloured hardtop as the car would be soon leaving the country as part of a family relocation. Much to the owner’s disappointment, a change of circumstances saw the E-type offered for sale towards the end of 2019 through E-Type UK.
Not hanging around for long on the market, for obvious reasons, the E-type achieved a sale in early 2020 to a long-standing client of E-Type UK and a prolific E-type collector. In addition to the purchase, the current owner decided to further enhance the car, spending a further £25,000 + on such projects as:
- Re-designed centre console to checker plate aluminium
- Re-designed dash fascia to Piano Black with chrome bezzles
- Electronic “side-draft” fuel injection system, ECU managed.
Since its most recent upgrade work, the E-type has been used sparingly and dry-stored with the rest of the owner’s collection.
Today the E-type re-enters the market presenting a rare opportunity to invest in a ‘like-new’ big V12-powered British classic. Prepared by industry-leading specialists and built to a magnificent specification that offers the next owner a reliable and high-performing Jaguar E-type. Fitted with side-draft fuel injection and a 5-speed gearbox, the Series 3 pulls like a train through each gear with highly responsive throttle control.
The E-type interior continues to help this roadster stand out from the rest, losing the dated 1970’s details and replacing them with classy and elegant finishes that make the E-type’s aesthetic jaw-dropping inside and out.
