NASH HEALEY PININFARINA

This 1953 Nash-Healey by Pininfarina has been subject to a rolling-restoration by its previous owner and is now presented in fantastic condition, everything on the car was ensured to be to exact original specification.

HISTORY

This Nash-Healey had been very well maintained mechanically throughout its early life, predominantly residing in Western US States of Michigan and New York. This was until 1994 when Richard Nash sold the car to Jim Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Williams had longed after a Nash-Healey for a while and was awaiting the right car; it needed to be mechanically perfect whilst retaining its usability in the condition of both the exterior and interior. After some years of use, Mr Williams decided to cosmetically restore the car by having the original silver exterior repainted in red and commissioning a full retrim of the worn interior. Over the following years the car continued to have parts taken off, refurbished and replaced. The car was bought and imported to Switzerland in 2012 where it was used sparingly, and in late last year, the car underwent a large amount of mechanical work to the tune of more than 20,000 Euros. This included a total cylinder head overhaul and carburettor rebuild, as well as a full inspection of the vehicle and replacement of any worn or faulty parts. This work is fully documented and lists all parts replaced and restored.

EXTERIOR

The bodywork is in fantastic condition with almost no signs of use on the beautiful red paint over the last 20+ years. The foldable black hood with clip on side screens is immaculate and as new, whilst the brightwork also looks to be in perfect condition with no pitting or scratches.

INTERIOR

The interior has fared excellently since its retrim and has no major signs of wear on the leather. The dashboard still retains its beautiful original gauges, clocks and the radio all of which are clear and work perfectly. The hood mechanism is easy to operate and it tucks behind the seats out of sight whilst the side screens can be pulled out of the doors and placed into the boot.

MECHANICALS

Having undergone a full, no expense spared check over and overhaul in late 2016, the car is mechanically perfect and is a dream to drive. The 4.1 Litre straight-six engine pulls excellently with its freshly rebuilt cylinder head and carburettors. The 3-speed gearbox slides into gear very easily with synchro on 2^nd and 3^rd gear and a fully functioning Borg-Warner Overdrive. The engine bay is exactly as it would have been when the car was new, still running a 6V electrical system and points ignition. With an original style “Le Mans Dual Jetfire” sticker on the bright red rocker cover, the engine bay looks to be a true timewarp from the 1950s. The Nash-Healey Pininfarina Roadster mixes British engineering with Italian style, packaged into a beautiful car directed solely at the people of US market.
